Preliminary Exercise 3: Introduction to Mise en scene Organizer

Introduction to the Elements of Mise en scene for the film (Sonic the Hedgehog 2)

The objective of today's lesson was about learning the elements of Mise en scene. Mise en scene is the arrangement of scenery and stage properties in a play. The three reasons are

  1. Enhances Storytelling: Mise en scène helps convey the story visually, providing context and meaning that dialogue alone cannot. It includes elements like setting, lighting, costume, and actor placement, all of which work together to tell the story more effectively1.

  2. Establishes Mood and Atmosphere: The visual composition of a scene can significantly influence the audience’s emotional response. By carefully selecting and arranging elements within the frame, filmmakers can create a specific mood or atmosphere that enhances the narrative2.

  3. Immerses the Audience: A well-crafted mise en scène can draw viewers into the world of the film, making the experience more immersive. This helps in building a believable and engaging world that captivates the audience3.
